“Texts from the Great Commission” with Pastor David Stauffer

Dave Stauffer will speak at renewal services to be held at Myerstown Church of the Brethren October 3, 4, and 5. Dave and his wife, Beth, live at Brethren Village and are members at East Fairview Church of the Brethren. Dave is a retired pastor who is currently serving as moderator of Myerstown Church of the Brethren.

Each service will use the Great Commission from Matthew 28:16-20 as a text. There will be music and a children’s message at each service.

• • Sunday, October 3, 10:00 AM: “The Faith We Examine.” In preparation for communion, we will consider what it means to believe in Jesus, follow Jesus, and serve Jesus while dealing with our doubts and sins. A key verse will be: Examine yourselves, and only then eat of the bread and drink of the cup
    Matthew 28:16-20, 1 Corinthians 11:27-32

• • Sunday, October 3, 7:00 PM: “The Faith We Embody.” We will consider how to make the faith we confess with our lips be the faith we demonstrate with our behavior. A key verse will be: For I have set you an example, that you also should do as I have done to you
    Matthew 28:16-20, John 13:1, 5, 12-27 

• Monday, October 4, 7:00 PM: “The Faith We Extend.” We will consider how to make disciples who will know and accept Jesus as Savior and Lord. A key verse will be: Proclaim the message; be persistent whether the time is favorable or unfavorable; convince, rebuke, and encourage, with the utmost patience in teaching

• Tuesday, October 5, 7:00 PM: “The Abiding Presence of Christ.” We will consider the difference it makes to believe that God is with us. A key verse will be: And remember, I am with you always, to the end of the age
